Box Score
SEARCY – Junior forward Brock Williams recorded his first career three-goal game and assisted on another score to give Harding a 4-0 victory over John Brown in non-conference men’s soccer action Tuesday at First Security Stadium.

The victory for Harding (2-13) was its first at home this season in seven games and its first since a 4-3 win over Delta State in 2005, snapping an eight-game home winless streak. John Brown (3-9-2) lost its seventh straight.

Williams scored first half goals in the 23rd and 34th minutes on assists from Chase Fowler and Ross Bourdeau. Harding took a 2-0 lead into halftime.

Williams, a native of Abilene, Texas, made it 3-0 in the 51st minute on assists from Fowler and Odracir Guzman. In the 72nd minute, Williams found Fowler for Harding’s final goal and Fowler’s sixth of the season.

Williams increased his goal total to 10 for the season, marking the fifth time a Bison player has scored 10 or more goals in a campaign.

It was the first career hat-trick for Williams and the second by Harding this season. Fowler scored three in the Bisons’ 5-0 win over Lyon.

Freshman James Thurmond and sophomore Ryan Hamilton shared the shutout in goal for the Bisons. Thurmond played the first half and made two saves, and Hamilton played the second half with six saves. It marked the first time that Harding had two shutouts in a season since 2003.

Harding plays its final game of the year Friday at 5 p.m., against Ouachita Baptist in Searcy.
